About Lawrence Hernandez
Dr. Lawrence Hernandez presently serves as a Trainer, Public Speaker,
writer and Director of Quality and Risk Management at a major Denver
Hospital. In this position, he fills the role of project manager for
several multi-disciplinary teams operating in such areas of increased
patient satisfaction and staff engagement, critical lab processes, labor
efficiency, admissions flow, and standard-order protocols. As an
executive at the hospital level, Dr. Lawrence Hernandez, a skilled
motivator and public speaker, collaborates with the chief financial
officer on numerous efficiency initiatives based on various financial
metrics and quality indicators. These turnaround efforts have yielded
year-to-year decreases in operating expenses of nearly 30 percent while
having no impact on the hospital’s nurse-to-patient ratio.
Dr. Hernandez received his doctorate degree from Stanford University after spending time being mentored by world experts in child and adolescent development in the Stanford Graduate School of Education .He also completed a leadership internship with John Gardner, renowned author and public reformer. He continued with Stanford as part of the school’s Educational Specialist in Program Evaluation. During this time, Dr. Hernandez led a project designed to better the lives of Spanish-speaking children in Santa Clara County. With the help of its Social Services Department, the county initiated a number of effective practices still in use today. By 1993, he had also earned a masters from Stanford in clinical psychology. He later won a fellowship to Harvard University. Today, along with his work in education and healthcare, he enjoys spending time talking to youth about creating personal compass for their lives, goal setting, mastering the mental game and taking a moral and ethical stand.
